Human Chain from Rajghat to Rajghat

THOUSANDS of people from all walks of life will join in the human chain on January 30, 2020 from Rajghat to Rajghat in Delhi. January 30 is the martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi- the father of the Nation, who was killed by Nathuram Godse, a communal fanatic. The action will be held against the Modi government and to mount pressure on him to repeal the anti and un-constitutional Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), NPR and the NRC throughout the country.

The human chain is being organised on behalf of Jan Ekta Jan AdhikarAndolan (JEJAA), a platform of 109 class-mass-social organisations along with ‘Hum Bharathke Log’, ‘Aman Biradhari’, ‘Not in my name’ and many individuals and collectives, who are actively organising protests against the CAA/NRC/NPR.

The human chain will be formed from Raj Ghat to Shanthi van, Hanuman Mandir, LalKila, Jama Masjid, Golcha, Delhi Gate to Raj Ghat.  The people from all walks of life including workers, students, teachers, women, youth, farmers, traders, scientists, advocates, doctors, journalists etc., will join the human chain, since 3.30 pm onwards. The human chain will be formed at 5.10 pm and prior to that a trial will be conducted at 5.00 pm. At 5.17 pm- the exact time of the death of the father of the Nation, all will stand in silence for one minute which will be followed with the singing of the National Anthem. There will be cultural programmes as well.

Those who are unable to come to Raj Ghat are requested to form human chains in their neighbourhoods, in markets, at factories, in universities, and workplaces. All those participating in the human chain will take the pledge of secularism.

The organising committee extends invitation to all political parties to join the human chain in order to develop an atmosphere of unity of all secular, democratic and progressive forces and against the communal and divisive politics of hate and authoritarianism being exhibited by the BJP –RSS combine under the sponsorship of the Narendra Modi government.

The CAA is an attack on the secular foundation of the Constitution and this struggle will continue and further intensify across the country in the coming days till the Modi government agrees to repeal the CAA/NRC/NPR.
