AP: CITU Golden Jubilee Observed with Vigour

WORKERS in Andhra Pradesh observed the golden jubilee celebrations of CITU with vigour. Flag marches, rallies, meetings and blood donation camps were organised in this connection. Golden jubilee meeting was held in Kalabharati at Visakhapatnam, which was presided over by Ch Narasinga Rao, CITU state president. He explained the historical background for the formation of CITU and narrated the ebbs and flows of the movement. In any tough situation, CITU stood to safeguard the interests of working class, he explained. Speaking on this occasion, M A Gafoor, state general secretary of CITU, said that the organisation(CITU) has been spearheading the united struggles of working class all over India. The toiling people have been creating wealth through their labour, but were denied their just share. The class struggle is a must for the survival of working class, he said. He stressed the need of the working class unity and to turn down the machinations of ‘sangha parivar’ and its various organisations to divide the people on communal and casteist lines. Gafoor said that the neo-liberal policies are to be fought back tooth and nail.
V Umamaheswar Rao, state vice president of CITU, unfurled the flag in Vijayawada, under the aegis of Railway Contract Workers’ Union. G Babyrani, vice president CITU, addressed meetings in East Godavari district. In Kurnool, auto workers participated in large numbers. Medical and sales representatives enthusiastically participated with huge flags and festoons in Kakinada, Srikakulam, Guntur and many other places. Blood donation camps were organised in Narsipatnam, Ongole, Visakhapatnam and Kakinada.
