CPI(M) Files Nomination in Mandi Parliamentary Constituency

The CPI(M) nominee from Mandi parliamentary seat in Himachal Pradesh , Daleep Kaith,  filed his nomination paper on April 23. Thousands of people representing 17 assembly segments of the parliamentary constituency joined the procession that started from the Padal ground to Seri Manch, where a public meeting was held.

Mandi parliamentary constituency is the second largest segment in the country. It encompasses tribal regions, which are also the two largest districts of the state, Lahaul & Spiti and Kinnaur.

The elections to the four parliamentary seats will take place on May 19, the last phase of the general elections in India. The CPI(M) is contesting only one seat; in the year 2014 the Party had contested two seats including Shimla.

The public meeting in Seri Manch, Mandi was addressed by Subhashini Ali, Polit Bureau member of the CPI(M). She appealed to the people to elect the Daleep from Mandi constituency. She castigated at both the BJP and the Congress in the rally. She said the BJP is the most dangerous party in the country, which is determined to change the constitution and bring instead ‘Manusmriti’ as a guiding book to rule. We all know what the fundamental tenets of this book are. It will mean reinforcing the principles of wretched caste system back in the society. The BJP is also dangerous for the unity of the people and the country. Having failed on all fronts, the BJP is now clinging back to the most heinous agenda of polarizing the people on communal and ultranationalist lines. It seems that the election is taking place against Pakistan as has been projected by the BJP. On the Congress candidate, she said, it is a queer situation where the son is in Congress, father in BJP and grandfather again in Congress. This masquerade of these candidates must be taken off and a pro-people humble candidate should be elected to represent the interests of the common people.

Daleep also spoke in the meeting and said that the struggles and movement of the people on the issues of employment and development will be built in the days to come.
