IN the evening of May 2nd, BJP goons attacked the residence of Party's Dukli sub-division committee secretary Narayan Deb. They threw bombs and ransacked the house. They also attacked Deb's son and SFI state committee secretary Nabarun Deb physically. He was injured. In the same night, BJP workers orchestrated a planned attack on the CPI(M) workers in Kamalpur sub-division of Dhalai district. In this attack, 10 CPI(M) workers were seriously injured. However the BJP goons had to flee as people came out to resist. In the night of May 4th, the BJP goons again tried to attack CPI(M) workers in Salema of Kamalpur.
The reasons behind these attacks in Kamalpur were primarily to disturb the mass meeting of the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on May 6. But the main reason was to give an issue for its national president to talk on. As expected he accused the CPI(M) of spreading terror and attacking his workers.
After the Shah' public meeting in Kumarghat of Unokoti district, BJP goons attacked the convoy of social welfare and social education minister, Bijita Nath at Dighalbak of North Tripura.
CPI(M) state secretariat strongly condemned these attacks. It said the BJP has been trying to increase its political clout through such violence. It has been trying to do so by spreading falsehood, giving false promises and distributing money. Now they have resorted to these terror tactics. It called upon the people to strongly oppose these heinous attempts and strengthen political ideological struggle against BJP's communal politics and anti-people policies.
