TELANGANA: Pinarayi Vijayan will Participate in Struggle Convention

M Venugopala Rao

CHIEF Minister of Kerala and Polit Bureau member of the CPI(M), Pinarayi Vijayan, will participate in the Struggle Convention for Social Justice scheduled to be organised on March 19 in Hyderabad to mark the culmination of Mahajana Padayatra undertaken by the CPI(M) in Telangana, asserted Polit Bureau member of the CPI(M), MA Baby.  The RSS threats won’t deter Vijayan and he will tour all over the country, he said.  Baby participated in the Mahajana Padayatra and addressed a public meeting at Choutuppal on March 12. Mahajana Padayatra would give inspiration to future struggles in the country and stands as a model for going to the people elsewhere in the country, he said.  The Telangana government has been negligent in filling up about two lakh posts in the state as a result of which the unemployed have been facing serious difficulties. The padayatra had shown its impact on the TRS government, which has been in deep slumber, and as a result of it, the government started moving, Baby said. He announced that the Party would support the struggles for filling up of vacancies and promised to bring pressure on the government in that direction.

VENUE OF STRUGGLE CONVENTION CHANGED

Convener of Mahajana Padayatra, B Venkat, along with two more state secretariat members of the CPI(M) D G Narasimha Rao and J Ranga Reddy,  announced that the venue of the Struggle Convention has been changed from Nizam college grounds to Saroornagar stadium grounds, as the TRS government had  deliberately cancelled the permission already given to hold the public meeting at Nizam college grounds. He termed it most undemocratic. On this issue, the CPI(M), along with other Left parties, social forces and organisations which join hands, would fight in a democratic way and would move the courts also, they said.  In the background of the statements of BJP MLA Raja Singh asking the government not to give permission to hold the Struggle Convention at Nizam college grounds, the TRS, having been in collusion with communal forces like the RSS, had deliberately cancelled the permission, Venkat criticised. Such undemocratic steps and shifting of dharna chowk at Indira Park, where dharnas and meetings were being organised by different sections of people seeking redressal of their grievances and fulfillment of their  demands over the years, to outskirts of Hyderabad were a proof of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s autocratic ways of functioning, the CPI(M) leaders criticised. On the 19th of this month, a concluding trek for a distance of ten and a half kilometers from Sundarayya Vignana Kendram to Saroornagar outdoor stadium would take place. Another rally would be taken out from Spencers at Vanasthalipuram to the stadium where national leaders of the CPI(M) and others would address the Struggle Convention.
