October Revolution Centenary Celebrated in Mumbai

THE Left Front in Mumbai organised a big procession from Kotwal Garden, Dadar (West) to Prof. BN Vaidya Hall, Dadar (East) covering a distance of 1.5 kilometres and a public meeting at Prof. BN Vaidya Hall on November 7 on the occasion of the onset of centenary year of Great October Revolution resulting in the formation of USSR. The Left Front in Mumbai comprises of CPI, CPI(M), PWP, Lal Nishan Party, Lal Nishan Party (Leninist), CPI(ML) Liberation and SUCI (C). More than 750 activists of these Left parties marched in a colourful procession with red flags, placards and banners denouncing imperialism and capitalism and extolling socialism in slogans raised by them. The processionists were led by Mahendra Singh and Dr SK Rege of CPI(M), Dr Bhalchandra Kango, Prakash Reddy and Sukumar Damle of CPI, Prof. SV Jadhav and Adv. Rajendra Korade of PWP, Milind Ranade of LNP, Vijay Kulkarni of LNP(L) and Shyam Gohil of CPI(ML) Liberation. The public meeting was addressed by Dr Ashok Dhawale, Central Secretariat member of CPI(M), Dr Bhalchandra Kango, Maharashtra state secretary of CPI, Prof. SV Jadhav, Maharashtra state secretary of PWP, Milind Ranade of LNP, Uday Bhat of LNP(L), Shyam Gohil of CPI(ML)Liberation and Chandrashekhar of CPI(ML) Red Flag. The meeting was presided by Mahendra Singh, Central Committee member of CPI(M). Prakash Reddy of CPI and Dr. SK Rege of CPI(M) made introductory speeches on this occasion. All the speakers explained in detail, the contribution of this epoch making revolution in influencing the course of developments all over the world in 20th century dwelling upon i) achievements of the revolution in USSR about improvement in living standards, housing, employment, literacy, education and health care of people in a short span of time, ii) inspiration given by this revolution to different national liberation struggles all over the world, iii) its impact on India and various leaders of our country, iv) role played by people and red army of USSR in the defeat of fascism and v) assistance given by the USSR to newly independent third world countries in their development. The publication of book, Manav Mukticha Yalgaar, Navya Jagachi Lalkar of Lok Vangmaya Griha was also done on this occasion jointly by all the leaders present on the dais. The meeting ended with resounding slogans denouncing neoliberal globalisation, communalisation and fanaticism and appealing for left unity.
