Forge Stronger Links with People, Calls West Bengal State Committee
CPI(M) West Bengal state secretary Surjyakanta Misra has called upon Party workers to forge stronger links with people to develop mass struggles on peoples’ issues. He alerted about the activities of communal forces, the complimentary relation between BJP-RSS and ruling TMC and thwart attempts of polarisation.
CPI(M) state committee in its meeting held on July 10 took cognizance of the new dimensions that have been added to fascistic attack of TMC regime after the assembly elections. The ruling party wants to make West Bengal free of any opposition and they are using authoritarian measures using police and administration to reach that goal. The major aim is to create terror to fully paralyse the democratic political activities of the opposition, particularly of the Left. The terror has been intensified in those areas where people have voted with courage and voted for the Left. TMC began their second innings with a plan to eliminate voices of protest using the administration and ruling party.
One of the chief motives of these attacks is to establish unobstructed domination of the authoritarian ruling party in the next bye-elections, panchayat elections and Lok Sabha elections. They have started the preparations now. They are also trying to create division in the Congress Party. This violence and conspiratorial aggression will continue to grow.
The plans of Sangh Parivar to extend their influence in the state in this background is of serious concern. That will create an atmosphere of communal polarisation. BJP’s vote share has decreased in the assembly elections but their electoral understanding with the TMC was evident quite clearly. TMC and BJP-RSS are feeding each other. TMC’s authoritarian politics is helping BJP-RSS to sow seeds of polarisation.
The existence of Modi government at centre, formation of BJP government in Assam, communal situation in Bangladesh, violent and fascistic TMC regime in the state have created a dangerous situation for democratic movement, Left and secular movement in West Bengal. RSS is advancing to extend their influence. The main agenda of RSS is to weaken Communist and Left forces in the state. For this, they are politically aligned with the ruling TMC.
CPI(M) West Bengal state committee has decided to forge and strengthen links with the people to counter this aggression. For this, issues related with people should be taken up at all levels. Under present situation, apart from resisting terror and attack on democracy, Party will take up issues like price rise and growing unemployment.
Misra said, the main direction of the movement for now will be to make the all India general strike called by trade unions on September 2, a success.
