The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on July 3

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses grave concern over the spate of violence engulfing Bangladesh claiming numerous lives.

 The recent spate of attacks against secular rationalists, minorities and foreigners clearly shows that the activities of the fundamentalists are on the rise.

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) hopes that the government of Bangladesh will bring those responsible for the heinous murders to book and restore normalcy at the earliest.

The people of Bangladesh have a heroic legacy of struggling unitedly for the liberation of Bangladesh cutting across all barriers of religion. The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) hopes that the people of Bangladesh will continue to uphold this legacy and thwart all efforts to spread violence and anarchy in the country.
