Solidarity with Venezuela
THE National Committee for Solidarity with Venezuela has organised a solidarity meeting with the people of Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on April 19, 2016 as an expression of support in their struggle against the destabilisation attempts carried out by the US.
The Left and progressive parties and movements in Venezuela had called for international solidarity against the executive order renewed by President Barack Obama this March 3, where Venezuela is unjustly declared as “an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States". They had requested all the solidarity organisations and movements to organise solidarity programmes throughout the world on April 19, the independence day of Venezuela from Spanish conquerors. Many countries and organisations have positively responded and agreed to this proposal and are planning for solidarity programmes in their respective countries. International organisations like World Peace Council too have extended their support and joined this call.
In this background of growing threats of destabilisation, the National Committee for Solidarity with Venezuela has organised a solidarity programme in the evening on April 19, 2016 in Kerala House (Conference Hall) in New Delhi.
Augusto Montiel, ambassador of Venezuela in India and other diplomatic corps took part in the meeting.
Prakash Karat, Polit Bureau member of CPI(M), S Sudhakar Reddy, general secretary of CPI (Conveners of Solidarity Committee with Venezuela), Prof Achin Vanaik and others addressed the meeting.
