THE 80th Foundation Day of the All India Kisan Sabha was observed on April 11 throughout the country. AIKS flags were hoisted, mass meetings and seminars were held on this occasion. In the central office of AIKS, flag hoisting was done by NK Shukla, joint secretary of All India Kisan Sabha. Afterwards the meeting was also addressed by Dr Hemalata, national secretary of CITU, Asha Sharma, working president of Delhi state committee of AIDWA and Babu Mohan from the AIAWU. Dr Hemalata stressed on the worker-peasant unity, thanked kisans and agricultural workers for actively supporting the general strike of the trade unions last September 2 and hoped to get the same support again for the coming general strike of the TUs to be organised on September 2, 2016. She assured all help by the CITU and other trade unions to the peasant movement going on in the country. NK Shukla spoke about the history of the AIKS in brief – how in the background of the great recession of 30's, the peasantry was forced to resort to various types of protest in different regions of the then British India. The meeting concluded with the vote of thanks placed by Kisan Sabha office secretary, RC Yadav.
