DELHI: CPI(M) Delegation Meets LG
A SEVEN member delegation of CPI(M), Delhi state committee, led by Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat met the lieutenant governor of Delhi on January 14. The delegation comprising Delhi secretary KM Tiwari, South District secretary Jagdish Chand Sharma, Pappu Bhardwaj, Farooq Khan, Swaran Singh and Nanu Prasad raised issues related to Badarpur region. These include removing the stay on declaring Mithapur and Jaitpur wards as ‘F’ zone instead of the ‘O’ zone of Delhi’s Master Plan. The delegation urged upon the LG to reverse this decision. They also demanded that a government college and hospital be constructed in this area, the traffic bottleneck at Jaitpur crossing be attended to and the area be developed with a park and community centre.
The LG assured the delegation of reverting the status of Mithapur and Jaitpur wards to zone ‘F’. But on the rest of the demands he passed the buck onto the Delhi government.
The delegation had also raised the issue of non-payment of the salary to MCD teachers and employees for many months, and the old-age, widow and disability pension.
The LG again held the Delhi government responsible for this.
CPI(M) believes that both the central and the AAP governments are passing the buck onto each other while the poor people of Delhi are suffering. We demand of both the centre and the Delhi governments to stop this game of mudslinging and start taking their responsibilities towards the people seriously.
CPI(M) also calls upon the people of Delhi to come forward and oppose the anti-people policies of the NDA and the AAP governments.
