CPI(M) Fully Immersed in TN Flood Relief Work

S P Rajendran

THOUSANDS of cadres of Communist Party of India (Marxist) and class and mass organisations are engaging themselves in full swing in the flood relief works across Chennai, Cuddalore, Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur, Villupuram, Nagapattinam districts and Pudhucherry, which were worst affected in the recent heavy rains.

The Party led by CPI(M) Polit Bureau member and state secretary G Ramakrishnan is visiting each and every part of Chennai and distributing relief materials to the affected people. A Soundararajan, Central Committee member and MLA form Perambur in Chennai, is present with the people of his constituency and is co-ordinating the relief work.

Another CC member of the Party and MLA from Chidambaram K Balakrishnan is co-ordinating relief work in Cuddalore district. Party MLAs from Nagapattinam and Vikkiravandi,  Nagai Maali and R Ramamurthy are leading the Party in relief work in their districts.

Party committees as well as the cadres of CITU, AIDWA, DYFI and SFI and other organisations like AIIEA across the state are collecting relief fund and materials for the affected people.

Even though the flood water is receding in the city of Chennai, the entire life is still stranded and there is a threat of epidemic. So, thousands of cadres from DYFI and SFI as well as the Party are dedicating themselves in mass cleaning work. Party and TU committees and cadres are fully engaged in distributing food to the people in the city.

And, the newly evolved Peoples' Welfare Front (PWF) leaders Vaiko (MDMK), G Ramakrishnan (CPI(M)), R Mutharasan (CPI) and Thol. Thirumavalavan (VCK) and their cadres are also reaching out to the people.
