You have got together for your Congress at one of the most crucial moments in the history of the modern world. World economic crisis has had a great impact on the situation of the broad masses of people. Imperialist aggression has intensified. Fascism regenerates. Wars and conflicts are raging in many parts of the world. Under these circumstances, the CPI(M) has strengthened its activity in all directions. Your party has always been in the vanguard of the struggle of the people for their rights.

We are aware of the complicated conditions you have to work in. We are sure that the decisions that will be taken by the Congress will contribute to further consolidating the ranks of the Party and enhancing its influence in the Indian society.
