IT is a great honor for the Communist Party of Cuba to send a message of greetings to the members, cadres and delegates to 21st Congress of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) held in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on April 14-19. This is an exceptional opportunity to express our gratitude to the Indian communists for their constant solidarity with the Cuban Revolution. The recent victories of our people, including the return to the homeland of our Five Heroes, are also the result of the militant solidarity of the CPI (M). On December 17 last year, the presidents of Cuba and the United States announced to the world their willingness to work for reestablishing the diplomatic relations between the two countries and the beginning of a process of normalisation of the bilateral relations. As it was acknowledged by the US President Barack Obama, the policy of his country towards Cuba has failed, and that is the result of Cuba´s resistance in the face of the aggressiveness of the most powerful empire on earth and also of the solidarity of the peoples and friends in the world, like the CPI (M), that have always accompanied us. But the struggle has not finished because the US government´s economic, commercial and financial blockade that the Cuban people has suffered for more than 56 years remains intact. That government is trying to give an impression of good will in its approach to Cuba, but it has not changed its main objective of destroying the Cuban Revolution. It has not ceased from its effort to hinder the democratic processes that are taking place in Latin America through interventionist actions and media campaigns against the progressive governments in our region, especially against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. On the last March 9, the US president launched a new campaign of aggression against that country when he issued an Executive Decree declaring a national emergency in relation to an unusual and extraordinary threat to the US national security and foreign policy posed by the situation in Venezuela, which is practically a war declaration against that brotherly country. That aggression has been rejected by institutions such as UNASUR, ALBA, CELAC and the 77 Group + China, among others. Cuba has made clear its solidarity with the Venezuelan people and government, as well as its commitment of not allowing to be seduced or bought by the US government. As our President Raúl Castro said on December 17, 2014: “ The heroic people of Cuba have shown, in the face of big dangers, threats, aggressions, adversities and sacrifices, that it is and will be faithful to our ideals of independence and social justice”. Cuba will not cease from defending the just causes in Our America and in the world. We will never leave alone our brothers in the struggle. We are deeply convinced that without peace, cooperation and mutual respect, it will be impossible to advance towards a sustainable development.
