Joint Campaign by Left Parties in Delhi

THE Delhi units of six Left parties – CPI(M), CPI, RSP, AIFB, CPI (M-L) Liberation and SUCI (C) conducted a joint campaign on nine demands concerning the livelihood of the people, opposition to the attempts of the RSS-BJP to create communal polarisation and riots and aggressive implementation of neo-liberal policies. The campaign consisted of a four-day tempo campaign in different parts East, North-East, North and North West districts. During the course of this campaign, leaders and activists of the participating parties addressed a total of 70 meetings. One lakh joint leaflets were also printed and distributed. The areas in which meetings were held included Trilokpuri and Bawana which has witnessed communal incidents in the preceding months of October-November. The response of people to the issues of the campaign was positive. On December 13, activists of the six parties assembled at Mandi house and went in a procession to Jantar Mantar, where a public meeting was held in which leaders of these parties exposed the communal and neo-liberal conspiracies of the RSS-BJP and called upon the people to unitedly resist them. Nilotpal Basu, Central Secretariat member addressed the meeting on behalf of the CPI(M).
