CPI(M) Condemns the Taoru Incident
THE CPI(M) has condemned the incidents of communal violence perpetrated on June 22 in Taoru town of Mewat district following a road accident in which a youth was killed. Party state secretary Inderjit Singh in a statement has stated that many communal outfits are active in this area who always seek to exploit any incident for disrupting the social amity between all communities of the Mewat region. The unfortunate death of a biker in a road accident was mischievously given a communal colour simply because the driver of the dumper and his conductor happen to be from minority Meo community who were mercilessly beaten and critically injured. The unruly groups went on rampage and torched the shops and religious places belonging to the minority community.
A rumour of their death was spread in a planned way for the sake of triggering a full communal riot which the administration and police as usual did not bother to contain. Such communal outfits in the garb of cow protection had last year burnt down with impunity dozens of vehicles hired by the state government for taking cows to a Gaushala in Barsana town of Uttar Pradesh.
The CPI(M) has appealed the people to see through the dangerous game and isolate the hard core communal elements who have been further emboldened by the BJP capturing power at the centre. The Party has demanded adequate compensation to the family of deceased youth and those persons whose properties were looted and destroyed, give strict punishment to the elements responsible for the criminal acts of violence and ensure safety by bringing normalcy.
The Party has sent a team to take stock of the situation. The team met the affected people. A report on the visit will appear in the next issue of the People’s Democracy.
