CPI(M) Flays Communal Acts

THE Haryana state unit of the CPI(M) has condemned in strong words the incidents of communal violence perpetrated on June 8 in Taoru town of Mewat district, following a road accident in which a youth was killed. In a statement issued on June 9, the party’s state unit secretary Inderjit Singh stated that many communal outfits are active in this area and always seek to exploit any incident for disrupting the social amity between all communities in the Mewat region .The unfortunate death of a biker in a road accident was mischievously given a communal colour simply because the driver of the dumper and his conductor happened to be from the minority Meo community. They were mercilessly beaten and got critically injured. The unruly groups then went on rampage and torched the shops and religious places belonging to the minority community. A rumour about the death was spread in a planned way for the sake of triggering a full-fledged communal riot which, as usual, the administration and the police did not bother to contain. It was such communal outfits which had last year, in the garb of cow protection, burnt down with impunity dozens of vehicles hired by the state government for taking cows to a Gaushala in Barsana town of Uttar Pradesh. The CPI(M) has appealed to the people to see through the dangerous game and isolate the hard core communal elements who have been further emboldened by the BJP capturing power at the centre. The party has decided to send a team to take stock of the situation and meet the affected people. The party has demanded adequate compensation to the family of the deceased youth and to the persons whose properties were looted and destroyed, mete out strict punishment to the elements responsible for the criminal acts of violence, and ensure safety by bringing normalcy back.
