Impeachment Resolution Against CEC Gyanesh Kumar

The public impeachment resolution against the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of India, Gyanesh Kumar, was unanimously passed on October 31, 2026, by the INDIA bloc opposition parties during a symbolic "public parliament" program. The main text of the resolution reads as follows:

We Will Not Rest

THE huge mass of humanity at the Ramlila Maidan on November 1, has sounded the bugle. The grounds which are more familiar to hosting the ceremonial Ravana Dahan as part of the Dussehra festival sounded a new tune for the dahan of the contemporary evil. This occasion was to express the resolve to extinguish the forces that are running berserk, wanting to snatch away one of the most crucial constitutional rights of the Indian people – the right to vote.

Imperialism of Our Time : Impact of the Russian Revolution

TO understand the imperialism of our time and the ongoing anti-imperialist struggles, it is necessary to trace their origins back to the Russian Revolution of 1917. The October Revolution was the first anti-imperialist and anti-capitalist revolution in the world. Lenin had set out his theory of imperialism in 1916, arguing that imperialism is driven by the need of capitalist powers to find new markets, secure access to...

First They Burnt Books

“WHERE they burn books, they will ultimately burn people as well.” The oft-quoted line from German poet and playwright Henrich Heine’s 1823 play Almansor is engraved on the Bibliothek memorial in the Bebelplatz square in central Berlin, commemorating the Nazi book burning of May 10, 1933, when members of the German Student Union and university professors burnt and destroyed over 25,000 books that they deemed “un-German”. Marxist and Communist literature were one of the prime targets...

Reinforcing the Imperialist Drive

THE capitalist system cannot experience sustained growth in the absence of an exogenous stimulus, that is a stimulus arising from outside the process of growth itself. This is because the capitalist system witnesses booms and slumps, and while there is an automatic end to booms when capacity is fully utilized, there is no automatic end to a slump. Marx had thought that the scrapping of some equipment would bring the slump automatically to an end. But scrapping of...

Capping Profiteering in Medicines: Is it enough?

In September 2026, a Bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta of the Supreme Court of India called a 10-fold markup on life-saving cancer drugs one of "carnage" and "extortion". They described the situation of a cancer drug with a price-to-retailer (PTR) cost of Rs. 2,700 being sold by drug manufacturers and retailers to cancer patients at Rs. 27,000—or ten times the price as "broad daylight dacoity" committed on vulnerable patients...

SIR in Bengal: The Disenfranchisement of the Working Poor

THE Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of West Bengal’s electoral rolls, the first since 2002, reduced the state’s electorate from 7,66,37,529 in November 2025 to 6,77,42,891 when the roll was frozen ahead of the April polls. Close to 89 lakh people, 11.6 per cent of the electorate, were removed in five months.

The Civil War in France

Students in the Paris suburbs came onto the streets merely to get teachers into their classrooms, to have enough desks for their classmates, and to have the state build school buildings fit for the educational experience. These suburbs, or banlieues, are the warehouses of France’s working poor, mainly non-white communities that had come to France from its colonies. The French establishment does not want to talk about racism, self-righteous in its official ideology of universalisme (...
