Massive Victory of Kisan Movement in Rajasthan

THE Vasundhara Raje-led BJP state government of Rajasthan imposed severe burdens on the farmers of the state. They refused to supply adequate water for irrigation.  Lakhs of acres of land had no water for cultivation. The AIKS took up the issue and organised massive kisan rallies, meetings, road blocks in the effected districts.  Finally, the unwilling government relented and released adequate canal water to the districts of Ganganagar, Hanumangarh and Bikaner.

A Young boy is pleading in the court to seek permission to file his nomination for the post of president in the student union election. The court gave him permission of only one hour and directed the police to take this boy to college. Police jeep is moving at its slow. As jeep reached the college gate there are various hurdles in front of the gate. The young boy took another route and jumped over the wall. Inside the college gate his companions are waiting for him with nomination papers. He succeeded to file his nomination in the last 10 minutes and contested the elections from the jail.

First Rajasthan State Convention of Dalit Shoshan Mukti Manch Held

THE first Rajasthan State Convention of Dalit Shoshan Mukti Manch (DSMM) was held on July 25 in Jaipur. The convention highlighted the prevailing conditions of the state’s Dalit population and took resolve to take up fight to meet the challenges. Delegates from various districts expressed deep concern over the increasing exploitation and oppression of Dalits in the ongoing phase of neo-liberalism. There is not a single district in Rajasthan where Dalits are not discriminated against, oppressed and exploited.

WHEN the present reporter visited Rajasthan, it was very clear that the people of this state were not going to give any party an absolute majority. They have the experience of the Congress as well as Bharatiya Janata Party in action and well realise that none of them is going to solve the problems facing them. They feel that a hung assembly would be in their interest, as they would be able to pressurise the new government, formed by whichever party or coalition, for adopting some pro-people policies.

CPI(M) Workers Court Arrest All Over Rajasthan

IT was a pride moment for the state of Rajasthan that over ten thousand people, despite the blazing heat at 48 degree Celsius of temperature, and notwithstanding the season of marriages in the state, marched and courted arrest in mass civil disobedience in Rajasthan on May 31, as part of a countrywide action programme. As reported earlier, CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat courted arrest outside the Collectorate in Jaipur, along with 500 protestors, on this day.

Next day, all the prominent newspapers carried the news along with photographs.
