AIDWA Holds Massive Rally Against Communal Modi Regime

EVEN the torrential rains could not dampen the spirit of thousands of women – overwhelming majority of them tribals – who enthusiastically participated in the huge public meeting organised by the AIDWA Palghar-Thane district committee on August 27, 2014. Young and old, the women came in trucks, tempos, jeeps, buses and rickshaws. Hundreds of them came walking from the neighbouring villages, with children in hand.

Massive Rally in Solapur Begins CPI(M) Vidhan Sabha Election Campaign

ON August 6, 2014, a large rally of nearly 3,000 people, predominantly youth, marked the beginning of the CPI(M) Vidhan Sabha election campaign in Solapur with tremendous enthusiasm. The participants came from all over Solapur city and also from the adjoining rural areas. Most of them were working class youth and they hailed from all religions and castes. The Party district committee, all Party branches and Party whole-timers had made sustained efforts for the success of this rally.

SFI Holds Successful State Camp

THE Maharashtra state committee of the Students Federation of India (SFI) successfully organised a state study camp from June 5 to 8, 2014, at Aadarsh Vidyalaya in Mumbai. A total of 187 delegates from 14 districts of the state, including 43 girl students, attended the camp. The state camp commenced with the hoisting of the flag by SFI state president Mohan Jadhav. After the delegates paid homage at the martyrs column, SFI state secretary Datta Chavan made the introductory and welcome speech.

Maharashtra: Enthusiastic Rallies in all Four Lok Sabha Seats

FROM April 12 to 20, enthusiastic rallies and public meetings were held by the CPI(M) in all the four Lok Sabha seats that it is contesting in Maharashtra, viz Hingoli, Nashik, Dindori (ST) and Palghar (ST). The main speakers in these different rallies were CPI(M) Polit Bureau members Sitaram Yechury, Brinda Karat and M A Baby, Central Secretariat member Nilotpal Basu, Tripura minister Jitendra Chowdhury and state level leaders.

CPI(M) Election Campaign Vigorously Continues

THE CPI(M) is contesting four Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra for the first time. Of these, the Palghar (ST) seat in Thane district and the Dindori (ST) seat in Nashik district are its traditional tribal belt seats where the party has consistently secured over one lakh votes each in the last few Lok Sabha elections. The other two seats which the party is fighting for the first time are the general seats of Nashik and Hingoli. The latter comprises parts of Yavatmal district in Vidarbha region and Hingoli and Nanded districts in Marathwada region.

CPI(M) Candidates in Maharashtra

WHILE the Maharashtra state committee of the CPI(M) had initially decided to contest three Lok Sabha seats in the state, it later decided to fight a fourth one as well. This is the constituency of Hingoli which is spread over parts of the Vidarbha region (Yavatmal district) and Marathwada region (Nanded and Hingoli districts). Brief introductory notes on the CPI(M) nominees in these four seats follow.

Anganwadi Workers Strike, Win Important Demands

NEARLY two lakh Anganwadi workers and helpers of Maharashtra recently went on an indefinite strike at the call of the Maharashtra Rajya Anganwadi Karmachari Kriti Samiti, of which the Anganwadi Karmachari Sanghatana, affiliated to the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) and All India Federation of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers (AIFAWH), is an important part.
The total strike lasted for a full one month as, starting from January 6, it went on till February 5, when 90,000 Anganwadis and 20,000 Mini Anganwadis were closed and all the six services provided stopped.
