Stop Attacks on the People in Tripura

THE CPI(M) has brought out a booklet, “Democracy under Attack: Testimonies from Tripura”,  detailing the wide range of attacks happening in Tripura under the BJP led state government. The booklet was released by Sitaram Yechury, general secretary and Brinda Karat, Polit Bureau member, at a press conference held at Party headquarters, AKG Bhavan in New Delhi on November 17.

Tripura: Stop Attacks on Opposition

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on November 17, 2018THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) condemns the continuing attacks against the CPI(M) and its elected representatives in Tripura.On November 16, a meeting addressed by Manik Sarkar, leader of the opposition, at the Bishalgarh CPI(M) office was encircled by BJP men, who tried to  disrupt the meeting. Earlier BJP miscreants had sought to prevent people coming to attend the meeting.  On their return also, many participants were attacked. 35 were injured.

Sabarimala: Nefarious Plan of BJP

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on November 21THE BJP and the RSS in Kerala have been organising their activists to send to the Sabarimala temple since it opened for the current pilgrimage season from November 16. The aim is to take control of the premises of the temple and to create a law and order problem there.Proof of this nefarious intent has now come to light with the exposure of a circular issued on November 14, 2018 by the Kannur district Committee of the BJP.

Cyclone Havoc in Tamil Nadu

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on November 19ABOUT 50 persons died and public infrastructure and private properties in about ten districts was damaged as cyclone Gaja wreaked havoc in Tamil Nadu.  The cyclone also led to the shifting of about one lakh people to relief camps in Nagapattinam, Cuddalore, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram, Trichi, Dindigal, Theni  districts.  The cyclone had caused damages to hundreds of houses, felled over more than 5,000 trees and about 13,000 electric poles across the state.

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on August 5THE Communist Party of India (Marxist) condemns the assassination attempt on the president of Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro. Drones containing explosives were detonated close to the presidential platform when he was addressing a military parade to mark the 81st anniversary of the Bolivarian National Guard.According to reports, the perpetrators of the attack are linked to the ultra-right wing forces through whom the US is carrying out its attempts to destabilise Venezuela.

CITU Congratulates Road-Transport Workers for Magnificent Strike on Aug 7

MORE than three crore road transport workers in state-transport, private passenger transport, goods transport and small passenger transport like auto, taxi etc., have staged a magnificent strike action throughout the country on August 7. This strike was to voice their protest against the draconian Motor Vehicle Amendment Bill (MVAB) which is still pending for enactment by parliament. The draconian bill presented by the Modi government is a design for paving the way for destruction of State-owned public transport corporations.
