CPI(M) to Hold All India Protest Day on Nov 26 Against BJP Govt’s Moves to Subvert MGNREGA

The CPI(M) will organise a Mass Dharna in Delhi on Nov 26 led by chief minister of Tripura, Manik Sarkar against BJP government’s moves to curtail MGNREGA, which is a serious onslaught on the rights and livelihood of the rural poor. It calls upon all the democratic forces and mass organisations to unitedly oppose these changes.

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on November 5, 2014.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the brutal killing in Chattargram, Kashmir of two innocent schoolboys, one of them a student of Class 7, by the army. Two others were seriously injured in the firing.

Week Long Protest Campaign by Six Left Parties

CPI(M) Delegation Meets Vietnam PM

CPI(M) Delegation led by General Secretary Prakash Karat met Vietnam’s Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, who was on a State visit to India, on November 27 . The other members of the delegation were Sitaram Yechury, Polit Bureau member and R Arun Kumar, member, International Department of the CPI(M).

Left Parties to Meet on Nov 1 to Chalk out Nationwide Joint Campaign

ADDRESSING media persons in Kolkata on October 17, 2014, CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat said that various Left parties are coming together on a nationwide platform for a joint campaign. In the political situation after the Modi government was formed, there is a rightwing offensive. In order to counter this, there is a need for a strengthened Left, which is possible only by forging a wider Left unity.

Against Deregulation of Diesel Prices

THE CPI(M) condemns the deregulation of diesel pricing. This is nothing but an abdication of the responsibility of the government to control and regulate the prices of a crucial item of fuel which has a direct impact on the prices of all essential commodities.

Implement Coal Nationalisation Act in Right Earnest

FOLLOWING the Supreme Court order quashing the allocation of 214 coal blocks, the Modi government seems to have decided to promulgate an ordinance empowering the government to take back these coal blocks and reallocate them to private entities through an e-auction.
