THE two-day extended meeting of All India Kisan Sabha, Tripura state council and Tripura Gana Mukti Parishad held at Agartala on September 1-2, 2019 gave a clarion call to strengthen resistance and intensify struggles on the burning problems of the peasantry and the oppressed sections. Broad solidarity will be built uniting the peasantry, agricultural workers, workers, women, youth and all oppressed to make timely interventions as well as result-oriented struggles.
ON AUGUST 31, a strong rally of the agricultural workers was held in Kolkata to infuse fighting spirit within agriculturalists of the country. The idea behind the conference was to create and environment of communal harmony in the state by engaging with eminent persons of high secular credentials.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its strong opposition to the decision of the government to merge 10 public sector banks to create four bank entities, thus, reducing the number of public sector banks from 27 to 12.
EXPRESSING strong protest and condemnation of the actions of the Sikar police on August 28, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury has written a letter to Ashok Gehlot, chief minister of Rajasthan on August 30. In an unprecedented action, hordes of uniformed policemen illegally entered the office of the CPI(M), arrested former MLAs and CPI(M) leaders Amra Ram and Pema Ram and dragged out scores of others who were in the office. Subsequently, while Amra Ram was released, Pema Ram was taken into custody and had to apply for bail which was granted to him the following day in court.
