Lift the Clampdown in Kashmir

NOT a single bullet fired in Kashmir valley! isn’t it good for the people, asked a journalist in a press conference held in CPI(M) headquarters, addressed by Sitaram Yechury and Mohd Yousuf Tarigami, leader of the Party and four-time MLA from Kashmir on September 17. Prompt was the reply of Tarigami saying that no bullets are fired even in jails. Does that mean jails are better than free spaces? He said Kashmir is turned into a military jail where free mobility and liberty of the humans is the biggest casualty.

Finance Minister’s Recipe Will only Aggravate Economic Slowdown

THE final list of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam has excluded 19.06 lakh claimants who had applied to be included in the register.  Preliminary reports show that a large number of Indian citizens have been left out.

THE United Left Alliance has won all four central panel posts in the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union polls.

The United Left alliance of SFI – Students’ Federation of India, Democratic Students' Federation (DSF), All India Students' Association (AISA), and All India Students' Federation (AISF) has won the elections, bagging all four central panel posts with thumping majorities.

Aishe Ghosh of SFI has been elected as the president, defeating the nearest opponent candidate by 1,185 votes.

TELANGANA: Attempts to Falsify Facts of Glorious Telangana Struggle

THE CPI(M) Telangana state committee held district-level meetings to mark Hyderabad merger day on September 17. On the day in 1948, Hyderabad State which was under Nizam, was merged with the union of India following the police action.  Celebrating the anniversary of the merger, a number of meetings were held in the districts. Under the auspices of the Greater Hyderabad Central City committee, the anniversary of the Telangana Armed Struggle (1946-52) was celebrated and a meeting was held in Sundarayya Vignana  Kendram in Hyderabad on September 17.
