Tripura: Thousands participate in Human Chain

THOUSANDS of people formed human chain and read out the preamble of the Indian constitution in Agartala and other parts of Tripura on the 71st Republic Day on January 26.

The five Left Parties-CPI(M), CPI, RSP, AIFB and CPI(ML) Liberation had given the call to take oath to protect our Constitution by reading out the preamble of the Constitution.

Telangana: Conspiracy to evict from forests: Brinda Karat

THERE is a conspiracy to evict tribals (adivasis) from their dwelling forests and hand over their lands to corporates by the present central government of Modi, stated Brinda Karat, Polit Bureau member of CPI(M). She addressed the second state conference of Telangana Adivasi Girijana Sangham (TAGS) in Eturu Nagaram, Mulugu district. Speaking at the conference, she said that the history of the adivasis is the history of struggle. Brinda reminded that thousands of adivasis gave their lives in the struggle for freedom against the British rule.

2019-nCoV, a New Threat and Exemplary Action by the Chinese Authorities

IN two months, the novel coronavirus—or 2019-nCoV—has affected more people than the SARS virus had done in 2002-2003. While it is spreading faster, it is more infectious than SARS, the infections are less severe: the numbers of people becoming seriously ill or dying are less than with SARS. The Chinese authorities have reported 7,711 confirmed cases as of January 30th, of which 170 people have died of the disease. The bulk of the infections are from the Hubei province, with Wuhan as the epicentre of the outbreak.

UP: Netaji’s birth anniversary observed

ON January 23, on the call of the Central Committee of CPI(M), birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was observed in 45 districts of UP. On this occasion, meetings and seminars were held, statues of Netaji were garlanded, and Preamble of the Constitution was read collectively.

In Lucknow, a joint meeting was held which was attended by leaders of CPI(M), CPI, Forward Block, RJD, NCP, and Loktantrik Janata Dal. A collective reading of the Preamble was also undertaken in the end.

Human Chain from Rajghat to Rajghat

THOUSANDS of people from all walks of life will join in the human chain on January 30, 2020 from Rajghat to Rajghat in Delhi. January 30 is the martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi- the father of the Nation, who was killed by Nathuram Godse, a communal fanatic. The action will be held against the Modi government and to mount pressure on him to repeal the anti and un-constitutional Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), NPR and the NRC throughout the country.

Tamil Nadu: Secular Progressive Front launches signature campaign against CAA

IN a meeting held at Chennai on January 24, presided over by the DMK president, M K Stalin, all political parties in the Secular Progressive Front have unanimously decided to launch a signature campaign against CAA from February 2 to 8, 2020. During the deliberations, the parties expressed their strong condemnation against the unilateral actions of BJP in undermining the principles enshrined in the Constitution of India and to divert the attention of people from the serious economic disarray the country is facing.

West Bengal: Sit In on Republic Day

REPUBLIC Day on January 26th was commemorated through protest programmes in West Bengal. At the call of Left parties, allies and other secular forces sit-in was organised throughout the state. From the morning, hundreds of such roadside sit-in took place. The preamble of the constitution was read out in unison as oath. In districts, from a hundred to three hundred sit-ins took place. In some places it was organised at ward level, or village panchayat level. Thousands of people took part in these demonstrations. The sit in was addressed by leaders of the Left and other parties.

Bihar: Left Parties form Human Chain against CAA

MASSIVE turn out of different sections of people in forming human chain all across Bihar on January 25th, 2020, said a big no to CAA-NRC and NPR.

It also conveyed a clear message to Nitish Kumar, Chief Minister of Bihar that he should take a clear-cut stand about the whole package of the black law and convene a special session of assembly to pass a resolution against the CAA, like Kerala, Punjab and Rajasthan states.

Karnataka: Threat letter to Brinda Karat

A DELEGATION of the CPI(M) led by Nityananda Swamy, member of the state secretariat of the Party met the director general of police in Bengaluru on January 29 and lodged a complaint demanding action against the culprits who have issued death threat to Brinda Karat PB member of CPI(M) and 14 others, that includes prominent film personality Prakash Raj.

An anonymous undated letter was addressed to Nijagunanda Swamy threatening to kill him and others that includes Brinda Karat.
