SC/ST/OBC Reservations are Mandatory

CPI(M)  Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on February 9

A TWO-member bench of the Supreme Court has interpreted that Article 16(4) and 16 (4-A) are enabling provisions and there is no fundamental right to claim reservations for SC/ST/OBCs in government jobs and promotions. The Supreme Court has reversed the Uttarakhand High Court order directing the state government to provide reservations.

J&K: Condemn the Slapping of PSA on Former Chief Ministers

CPI(M)  Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on February 7, 2020

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the invoking of the draconian Public Safety Act on former chief ministers of Jammu & Kashmir, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti. The former served under a BJP government as minister of state and the latter as chief minister of the state in coalition with the BJP, under oath of the Indian constitution.

Chattisgarh: CPI(M) participates in Human Chain

THE CPI(M) participated in the Human Chain in different parts of the state along with other mass organisations and Left Parties and took oath on secularism and on protecting the Constitution of India. The call was observed on January 30th. In Raipur, the capital of Chattisgarh, Sanjay Parate addressed the meeting after the Human Chain. He said the CAA is a divisive law that divides the country on the basis of religion and goes against the basic tenets of our constitution. He appealed to the people that the NPR questionnaire should not be answered.

Satyagraha call on Mahatma Gandhi’s martyrdom day

THE Left parties comprising CPI(ML)-Liberation, CPI and CPI(M) observed one day satyagraha programme in different parts of the state. This call was given against the attacks on the democratic rights of the people of the country especially after the unilateral passing of the Citizenship(Amendment) Act and the proposed implementation of the NPR and NRC. In Patna, the capital of Bihar, in front of the Gandhi’s statue, in Gandhi Maidan, leaders of Left Parties participated in the programme.

Red Flag Marches Ahead 1937-39

AS part of the united front tactics, communists started working in the Congress and concentrated on building various mass and class organisations. Red flag was marching ahead and the united front against imperialism was emerging as a powerful force with the active participation of workers, peasants and intelligentsia. The growing impact of trade union and kisan sabha activities forced the Congress to include many demands of the working class and peasantry in its election manifesto for the 1937 elections.

DELHI: DU Teachers March to Parliament

TEACHERS of Delhi University marched to Parliament Street on February 10, to draw attention to their demands related to their service conditions, including pensions, promotions, permanency in jobs and unwarranted recoveries from salaries. A key demand of the over two month long DUTA agitation is the one-time regulation for absorption of ad-hoc and temporary teachers which will allow the regularisation of the services of the thousands of temporary/ad-hoc teachers.
