Subsequently, the two erstwhile warring parties signed a deal to bring peace to Afghanistan on February 28. America promised phased withdrawal of its military forces from Afghanistan. It is hoped that this will mark the beginning of end of the American involvement in nearly two-decade-old Afghan war which began after the September 11 attacks.

More than 15,000 people attended the ‘Citizenship Protection Conference’ organised by the Tamil Nadu Platform for People's Unity, an anti-communal platform, in Chennai on February 26. The conference demanded the central government to withdraw the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Population Register (NPR) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) and also sought the state government not to implement the discriminatory Act.
