THE speech of the Trinamool Congress MP, Tapas Pal, inciting violence and rape against CPI(M) workers and women, is shocking and obnoxious. He threatened murder, destruction of homes of CPI(M) men and to send his boys to rape the women there.

The Left Front has noted that the speech of the MP is another example of attack on human rights and democracy in West Bengal.

CPI(M) Condemns the Taoru Incident

THE CPI(M) has condemned the incidents of communal violence perpetrated on June 22 in Taoru town of Mewat district following a road accident in which a youth was killed. Party state secretary Inderjit Singh in a statement has stated that many communal outfits are active in this area who always seek to exploit any incident for disrupting the social amity between all communities of the Mewat region.

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) issued the following statement on June 20, 2014.
THE decision of the Modi government to use only Hindi language as the sole medium of communication for government information on social media is against the principle of linguistic equality and is an injustice to other national languages.
The government should modify its policy and use along with Hindi other national languages as well as English for communication in social media.

On Delhi University

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on June 24, 2014.
THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) welcomes the restoration of the three year degree courses and the exit of the vice chancellor of Delhi University. It congratulates the teachers, students and employees of the university whose sustained and successful struggle has forced the roll back of the utterly arbitrary imposition of the FYUP (Four Year Undergraduate Programme). The CPI(M) had consistently, both inside and outside parliament, opposed the imposition of the FYUP.

Plight of Employees in Media Houses Exposed

ON June 24, 2014, the Delhi Union of Journalists (DUJ) and its Gender Council (GC) noted with deep concern the deteriorating work environment in media houses, particularly TV channels, which stands exposed by the attempted suicide of a woman TV anchor on the premises of India TV. Behind the glamour projected by the TV industry, the DUJ noted, there lies the grim story of abysmal employment practices, 24/7 working hours, high pressure deadlines, arbitrary contracts, and hire and fire practices.
