TRIPURA: Khet Majur Union Holds Tenth State Conference

THE Tripura Khet Majur Union has completed its tenth state conference with a resolute vow to frustrate the orchestrated drive of the communal, parochial and sectarian elements under the patronage of the RSS and the BJP to create unrest and disturb the peaceful atmosphere in the state and thus embarrass the Left Front government. The conference also called upon all its members to plunge into the battle for formation of a Left Front government for the eighth term in the state in the assembly election slated for early next year for the interest of impoverished sections of the people.  

Maha: Mumbai Youth Rally against Atrocities on Minorities and Dalits

HUNDREDS of young men and women in Mumbai came out to join a youth rally organised by the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) on April 23 evening to protest against increasing atrocities on minorities and dalits. The rally, ‘Mumbai youth march’, started from Tilak Nagar and culminated in a massive public meeting at Ramabai Nagar in Ghatkopar. Ramabai Nagar is the revered place of martyrs who were gunned down in the murderous violence unleashed against dalits by Mumbai police in 1997.

MAHARASHTRA: DYFI Holds Three Day State-Level Study Camp

THE Maharashtra state committee of the Democratic Youth Federation of India organised a three-day study camp for its leading cadre from April 22-24 in Mumbai. Kumar Shiralkar, well-known writer and activist, inaugurated the camp which was attended by 160 delegates. Inaugurating the camp, he exhorted the youth to rally against the communal forces and also come out in struggle against the ill effects of neoliberal policies. Rural distress, unemployment and price rise should be taken up for intense struggles, he said.

TAMIL NADU: Huge Rally of CITU Demands Minimum Wage, Abolition of Contract System

THOUSANDS of workers from across Tamil Nadu took part in a rally in Chennai on April 4, demanding a curb on price rise, check on rising unemployment, abolition of the contract system and equal pay for equal work, an end to violence against women at work place, and a minimum wage of Rs 18,000, among others. The 13TH Tamil Nadu state conference of the CITU had given a clarion call to the working class to lay siege to the Fort St George, the state secretariat, over these long-pending demands of the people, particularly the workers.

BIHAR: Rising Miseries of the People

BJP has acquired the most aggressive posture and after Uttar Pradesh, Bihar is the next target, where it wants to expand its activities by fomenting communal trouble in different parts of the state. Nawadsh, Bhagalpur, Madhubani, Rohtas, Darbhanga have experienced such nefarious activities by the RSS and its affiliates but they have failed to ignite a fire.
