KERALA: Centenary of October Revolution Observed with Fervour

A VIBRANT march of red volunteers was organised in Kollam city observing the centenary of the Great October Revolution. 140 platoons from 140 local committees marched to the city. Around 5000 volunteers participated in the march which began from the QAC grounds. It culminated into a massive rally at Asramam Maidan. CPI(M) general Secretary Sitaram Yechury along with state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan received salute from the volunteers.

TRIPURA: BJP Goons Attack CPI(M)

IN the evening of May 2nd, BJP goons attacked the residence of Party's Dukli sub-division committee secretary Narayan Deb.  They threw bombs and ransacked the house. They also attacked Deb's son and SFI state committee secretary Nabarun Deb physically. He was injured. In the same night, BJP workers orchestrated a planned attack on the CPI(M) workers in Kamalpur sub-division of Dhalai district.  In this attack, 10 CPI(M) workers were seriously injured. However the BJP goons had to flee as people came out to resist.

DELHI: CPI(M) Condemns Hike in Metro Fares

THE Delhi state committee of the CPI(M), in a statement issued on May 9, has condemned the steep hike in the fares of Delhi Metro and demanded its immediate withdrawal.   

The cost of tickets at practically all levels is being doubled through this measure. Thus, whereas the maximum cost of a metro ticket stands at Rs 30 today it will become Rs 60 in the second phase of fare increase in October. Same is the case of those travelling for 10, 5 or 21 kilometers.

TRIPURA: Khet Majur Union Holds Tenth State Conference

THE Tripura Khet Majur Union has completed its tenth state conference with a resolute vow to frustrate the orchestrated drive of the communal, parochial and sectarian elements under the patronage of the RSS and the BJP to create unrest and disturb the peaceful atmosphere in the state and thus embarrass the Left Front government. The conference also called upon all its members to plunge into the battle for formation of a Left Front government for the eighth term in the state in the assembly election slated for early next year for the interest of impoverished sections of the people.  

Maha: Mumbai Youth Rally against Atrocities on Minorities and Dalits

HUNDREDS of young men and women in Mumbai came out to join a youth rally organised by the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) on April 23 evening to protest against increasing atrocities on minorities and dalits. The rally, ‘Mumbai youth march’, started from Tilak Nagar and culminated in a massive public meeting at Ramabai Nagar in Ghatkopar. Ramabai Nagar is the revered place of martyrs who were gunned down in the murderous violence unleashed against dalits by Mumbai police in 1997.
