Logistics Agreement with US Denounced

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on August 30, 2016.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the signing of the Logistics Support Agreement between the United States and India which will allow the American armed forces to access and use Indian military bases.
 
The Logistics agreement termed as the Logistic Exchange Memorandum of Agreement (LEMOA) has been signed in Washington during the visit of Defence Minister Manohar Parikkar.
 

What Direction US-India Defence Deals Take?

TO nobody’s surprise, India and the US led by BJP’s PM Narendra Modi and the Democrat President Barack Obama renewed the 10-year Defence Framework Agreement first entered into by governments led by the Republican President George W Bush and UPA’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in 2005, and which was due to expire in August this year. The US might have expected that the Defence Framework would open the doors for India to become a full-fledged military ally with all that entails.
