DYFI Organises Medical Camp on March 23

COMMEMORATING the martyrdom days of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev, the Delhi state committee of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) organised a medical camp and a quiz tournament at HKS Surjeet Bhavan on March 23. The same day also marks the birth anniversary of Comrade Harkishan Singh Surjeet, prominent kisan leader and freedom fighter.

The free medical camp was inaugurated by AA Rahim, DYFI national president and a member of parliament. As part of the event, the statue of Harkishan Singh Surjeet was garlanded by NZIEA Delhi state president Ved Arora.

A team of five doctors, led by Dr Harjit Singh Bhatti, president of PMSF (Progressive Medicos and Scientific Forum), and a team of seven nurses, led by Dimesh, the secretary of the AIIMS unit of DYFI, directed the free medical camp. Many people, including labourers, auto-rickshaw drivers, security guards, and their families, as well as members of fraternal organisations, queued up early in the morning to receive medical advice and examinations. The state of workers' health in Delhi is extremely poor, and many are unable to receive regular check-ups due to a lack of resources such as time and money, which can lead to the development of serious conditions.

After the medical camp came to a close, DYFI state president Sanjay Singh and state secretary Aman Saini applauded Dr Harjit Singh Bhatti and his entire team for making the camp a success. As a token of appreciation, they presented portraits of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru and Harkishan Singh Surjeet to the medical team.

A commemorative meeting was held in the afternoon on the same day, which was attended by hundreds of young people. Sanjay Singh and Aman Saini presided over the ‘yadgar sabha’, which was addressed by  Vikram Singh, national secretary of All India Agriculture Workers Union.
