West-Bengal Solidarity

At the call of the Central Committee West-Bengal Solidarity programme has been observed in very many places in the State of Odisha.

At Brahmapur a well attended meeting was held at Saheed Laxmana Nayak Momorial Hall on 12th August 2016 Speaking in the meeting Com. Suryakanta Mishra, Polit-Bureau member, told that the present TMC Govt. led by Mamata Banerjee is out to undo the good work done by the L.F. govt. in its 34 years rule in W. Bengal. All the reactionary forces including the imperialist forces are behind such a reactionary party to uproot the left and particularly the CPI (M) in W. Bengal. For these, attacks are launched in fascistic style. There is reign of terror & murder politics. Poor people’s houses are being burnt, their agriculture crops are looted and the people are thrown out of their houses and debarred from entering into the area. Party & Mass front offices are taken over by TMC goons. In order to continue her rule in W. Bengal, Mamata Banerjee has made to tacit understanding with Narendra Modi. It is a dangerous signal to the democratic fabric of our country Com. Mishra Stated.

Com. Suryakanta Mishra called upon the left & democratic forces of the country to raise their voice of protest against such jungle raj to protect the hard woned democracy & democratic rights. Com. Ali Kishor Patnaik, CPI(M) State Secretary and Com. Kailash Sadangi, Dist. Secretary of Ganjam spoke in the meeting. Ganjam District Committee handed over Rs 25,000/- in the hands of Dr. Mishra towards W. Bengal Solidarity Fund.

At Bhubaneswar a well attended convention was held on 7th September at Gopabandhu Sabha Kakshya where former W. Bengal Finance Minister & renowned economist Dr. Asim Dasgupta was the main speaker. Com Dasgupta in his forceful speech told that since the victory of TMC in recently held Assembly election, the attack, murder and forceful occupation of CPI (M) & mass front offices have accentuated. He told that since TMC came to power in West-Bengal in 2011, 187 CPI (M) & Left Party Leaders & Cadres are murdered, 664 Party Offices & 135 T.U. & Other mass organsation offices are forcefully occupied by TMC goons under the leadership on Mamata Banerjee. Even the poor people are being fined heavily to stay in their villages. 60,000 CPI (M) & Left Party Cadres are forced to leave their houses. The situation in West-Bengal is very serious. Democracy & Democratic rights are under attack. In spite of fascistic attack & terror, the CPI (M) alone has got 1.08 crores of votes & its allies together have got 2.15 cr. votes which is only 3 lakh less then what the TMC has got. He appeals to the left & Democratic forces to stand by the democratic rights of the people & the left in West-Bengal. Others who spoke in the meeting includes senior CPI(M) leader Com. Janardan Pati, Sivaji Patnaik, Dist. Secretary Com. Suresh Panigrahy and senior Journalist Mr. Rabi Das.  6751/- was collected on the spot as West-Bengal solidarity fund and handed over to Dr. Dasgupta.
    Solidarity meetings were also held at Balasore & Bhadrak. . Com. Amiya Patra, W.Bengal State Secretariat Member addressed both the meetings as Chief Speaker. He told that after TMC came to state power for the 2nd time, the politics of murder, loot, forceful collection of funds as fine from the Left supporters, eviction utilision of police & State power against political opponents has become order of the day. The constituencies where left and its allies candidate have won, the TMC has made those constituencies their target of attack. He espoused confidence that the peoples support from different parts of the country will strengthen the struggle of the CPI(M) , left & other democratic Parties to fight out the TMC’s fascistic types of attack. Others who spoke in both the meetings include state secretariat members Com. Santosh Das & Nirmal Nayak, State Committee member Com. Pradipta Panda, Chandra Sekhar Nayak, Literacy figure Mr. Krushna Nayak. Rs 15,000/- & Rs 7400/- were donated from Balasore & Bhadrak District repectively in the hands of Com. Amiya Patra towards West-Bengal Solidarity Fund.
Observance of Anti-Pricerise & Un-employment Week

As per the call of the CPI(M) Central Committee , Anti-Price rise, anti-unemployment week was observed on many parts of the state.

Wide spread meeting and demonstrations were held against princenise, unemployment, fraud in distribution of Food Security card and govt’s punitive measures against poor on false allegations on food security card and on health, road, drinking water issues  at Block/Tahasil level of various Districts. Dharana & Demonstrations were held at Tangi, Khordha, Chilika, Jatani Block & Tahasil Office in Khordha District; Brahmapur, Sorada, Ganjam NAC in Ganjam District including 10 roadside town meetings, Narla Block in Kalahandi District, R.Udayagiri & Paralakhemundi Block in Gajapati District, Pattamundai Block in Kendrapada District, District Collector office in Malkanagiri District.

Leaflets for the said programme was pointed and distributed at District level.
Other District Committees have also planned for this programme of action.
