Barbaric Attack on SFI Leader by RSS-ABVP Goons

THE central executive committee of the Students’ Federation of India, in a statement issued on December 21, has strongly condemned the cold-blooded attack on Subhash Jakhar, SFI Sikar district secretary by the RSS-ABVP criminals. He is admitted to SK Hospital in a critical condition with 25 stitches on his head.  SFI has also condemned in strongest possible words the police attack on the protest demanding immediate arrest of the culprits behind the heinous crime. Hundreds of SFI activists were arrested by the police in Sikar. Many were manhandled and picked up even from the office of SFI. Violating all the democratic norms and legal procedures, the police also vandalised the office.  Instead of arresting the culprits who attempted to murder Subhash, the police is worsening the situation by acting according to the wishes of the Sangh Parivar.

SFI's all India conference is going to be held in Sikar, Rajasthan from January 22 to 25. Subhash Jakhar was actively involved in the preparations for the conference along with leading a student strike in SK College against fee hike. Subhash was brutally attacked when he was on his way to the protest venue in which seven students including the district president of SFI are sitting on a hunger strike. Such a barbaric incident happened at a time when huge preparations and wide campaigns are taking place in Sikar to hold the all India conference of SFI. It is for the first time that the conference of SFI is being organised in Rajasthan. The enthusiasm among the students of Rajasthan regarding this historic event has clearly rattled the Saffron brigade, which has sought to quash the Left students' movement by resorting to murderous attacks.

SFI underlines that no such intimidating attempts of the RSS-ABVP with all the help from state and central governments can prevent SFI from organising the conference successfully. SFI appeals to all democratic sections in the country to rise up against the communal fascistic forces and the attack on democracy.

The saffron goons are highly frustrated on the growing influence of SFI especially in northern parts of India.  Comrade Rohit and Comrade Ajeet Singh Beniwal were killed by the right wing-communal forces in the recent years in Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan respectively. Hundreds of SFI activists are being attacked everyday and are put behind the bars for indefinite periods for they are fighting against the right wing-communal-ruling class ideology.

Expressing anger over the highly condemnable developments in Sikar, SFI activists held protest gatherings on December 21 in various parts of the country including the national capital.
