Left Parties March against Communal Hate Offensive

DELHI SEVEN Left Parties – CPI(M), CPI, CPI(ML)-Liberation, RSP, AIFB, SUCI(C) & CGPI – held a march in the national capital on the 23rd anniversary of the demolition of Babri Masjid, resolving to strengthen the struggle against communal hate offensive in the country. Hundreds of activists, party sympathisers, workers, students, youth, teachers and others joined the march, which started from Mandi House. It was the culmination of nationwide campaign between December 1-6 at the call of six Left parties against the communal hate offensive spearheaded by the RSS and patronised by this BJP led central government. The march culminated in a public meeting at Jantar Mantar. CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury, CPI national secretary D Raja, CPI (ML)-Liberation’s Polit Bureau member Kavita Krishnan, RSP’s secretary Shatrujit Singh, AIFB’s secretary G Devrajan, SUCI(C)’s Polit Bureau member Krishna Chakraborty and CGPI’s spokesperson Prakash Rao, addressed the public meeting. Sitaram Yechury dubbed RSS and other Hindutva organisations as “anti-national”, which are not only disturbing peace, but also endangering scientific temperament in the country. Babri’s demolition is not just the demolition of a Masjid; it is a black spot on the country. He added that today RSS is attacking the basic tenets of our constitution. We must be clear that forces which are celebrating December 6 as ‘shourya diwas’ (day of courage) and January 30 (anniversary of Gandhi’s assassination) as ‘balidaan diwas’ (day of sacrifice) are the biggest threat to our country today. CPI’S national secretary D Raja said that RSS-BJP is spreading the communal hatred in order to divert public attention from the NDA government’s failure in tackling issues like price rise, corruption, black money and unemployment. The economic policies of the NDA government is putting extreme economic burden over the working people of the country. It is obvious that this will lead to anger and desperation among the people. RSS-BJP is using communal polarisation to ensure that this anger does not take the form of organised resistance against the policies of the government. 23 years ago RSS, BJP, VHP and others from the Sangh giroh had done an irreparable damage to the secular fabric of the country. Today, the same forces are in control of the central government and consequently the State power, as well. It is the duty of the hour, that powerful resistance is built against the poisonous communal politics of the RSS-BJP. Such a resistance is crucial for fighting the economic policies of the NDA government.
