'RSS is Running the Modi Govt'

THE BJP-led central government is being run by the RSS, said Prakash Karat addressing a public meeting organised by the AP state committee in Kurnool as part of the Makineni Basavapuniah centenary observance on 03rd July. Speaking on the current political situation, Karat said that the one month rule of the Modi government has shown its anti-people, pro-corporate character vividly. He cited the hike in railway fares and freight rates affecting common people as one example. The statements on abolition of Article 370, incidents of communal violence in UP, Bihar, Assam and West Bengal show the implementation of RSS agenda. The project of polarising people on communal lines is sought to be taken forward aggressively. Karat said the BJP which posed itself as alternative to Congress is actually implementing the same neo-liberal policies much more vigorously. He attacked the corporate media for marketing Modi and his so-called Gujarat model. In reality the Gujarat model was nothing but granting of thousands of acres of land and massive incentives to corporates. They are all now eagerly awaiting similar treatment at all India level. That was the reason why big corporate names like Ambanis, Tata, Birla, Mittals praised sky high Modi and actively worked to see him as prime minister of the country. The efforts of Modi government to invite FDI into defence sector poses a serious threat to the country's self reliance and security while immensely benefiting the American defence industry. Similarly allowing FDI in banking insurance sectors poses a threat to our economic independence. Karat called upon the people to defeat these anti-people moves of Modi government. The BJP, which had criticised the UPA government for failing to curb price rise, raised petro prices immediately after assuming office. This was nothing but cheating the people. He charged the Modi government of trying to cut all welfare schemes and increase the incentives to coporate sector and contractors. With industrial growth experiencing a slow down and delayed monsoon, the situation on employment front is very bleak, he warned. Speaking about democracy being throttled in West Bengal, Karat said the ruling party goons are killing anyone working for the CPI(M). Its leaders terror statements calling for rape and murder publicly is an indication of the terrible situation prevailing there. He saluted the martyrs of West Bengal and called upon the Party to stand in solidarity with the courageous resistance being waged in defense of democracy by the Party in West Bengal. He demanded action against Tapas Pal, the TMC MP for his outrageous comments. He said the CPIM will strive to strengthen Left Unity. The Left is the only real alternative. Earlier paying homage to Comrade M Basavapunnaiah he spoke about his great contribution in building the communist movement in India. CPI(M) Andhra Pradesh secretary P Madhu, central committee member M A Gafoor and other leaders also paid homage to Comrade MB.
