CPI(M) Polit Bureau of has issued the following statement on February 2

THE Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) condemns the arrest of Anand Teltumbde by the Pune Police. He was taken into custody at Mumbai airport at around 3.30 am.

It may be noted that the Supreme Court of India has granted this renowned scholar four weeks protection from arrest to enable him to obtain bail. That protection period ends only on February 11.

Budget 2019-20: An Election Jumla

THE Modi government has now become famous for supressing and manipulating data and offering jumlas to the people. The interim budget for 2019-20 is yet another exercise in the same vein. The acting finance minister made tall claims during his speech about the record of the Modi government and promises of a rosy future for all Indians – which was a cruel joke played on the suffering people of the country.

Decry US efforts to Destabilise Venezuela

CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury, has written a letter to the prime minister on January 25, on the brazen intervention of United States of America in the internal affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. He urged the PM to declare to the world that India stands committed to both democracy and sanctity of the sovereignty of independent countries and the right of the Venezuelan people to choose their own government.

Ayodhya: No Change in Status-quo

CPI(M)  Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on January 29

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its strong disapproval of the petition moved by the central government in the Supreme Court to ‘remove the status quo on the non-disputed land’ that it had acquired in Ayodhya.  It wants to hand over this land to the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas that had been set up by the VHP to undertake the construction of the Ram temple on the site.

THE Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) expresses its deep anguish over the growing sense of disquiet and agitation of the people across the North East of the country over the proposed Citizenship (Amendment) Bill which has been passed by the Lok Sabha and awaits the passage in the Rajya Sabha. 

Report from Jharkhand

CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury visited Jharkhand on January 12,  2019 and met RJD Leader Lalu Prasad Yadav at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi. After meeting him, Sitaram addressed a press conference at the state Party office in Ranchi. Yechury told the media that the CPI(M) would try to consolidate anti-BJP votes to establish an alternative secular government both at the centre and in Jharkhand.

CPI(M) Holds Teacher-Training School for Hindi Belt

HINDI teacher-training school was held at CPI(M) Headquarters, A K Gopalan Bhavan in New Delhi from January 18-22, 2019. 97 comrades from 13 states attended the school. A heartening feature of this school is the presence of youth, who constituted nearly half of the participants. The aim of the school is to train teachers to ensure that all the Party members are imparted education within this year, in at least four basic subjects – Marxist Philosophy, Political Economy, Party Programme and Party Organisation – as decided by the Kolkata Plenum on Organisation.

DTF Demands Ordinance on the Reservation Roster

THE Supreme Court has, on January 22, 2019, dismissed the special leave petition filed by the union government against the Allahabad High Court order that had struck down the college/university wise reservation roster. The Democratic Teachers’ Front (DTF), in a statement issued on January 22, has said that this has exposed the government’s opportunistic and insincere attitude towards reservation policy meant for the underprivileged sections of the society.
