Prosecute the Shiv Sena MP

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on July 24, 2014

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the criminal and uncivilised act of a Shiv Sena MP Rajan Vichare, in the presence of other MPs of his party, of force feeding a person who was observing a fast for Ramzan. The defence of the Shiv Sena has been proved to be a lie by evidence broadcast in the media which shows that the MP was told by the victim that he was on fast.

Halt Aggression in Gaza

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on July 12

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the Israeli attack on Gaza. For the past five days, Gaza has been subjected to bombardment from the air and the sea, which is double the intensity of the genocidal attacks it had carried out in 2012. More than a 120 people have been killed including many children as the missiles have targeted residential areas.

Gaza Attack: Government Stand Pro-Israeli

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) issued the following statement on July 17, 2014.

WITH the ongoing attack on Gaza which has led to the death of 220 Palestinians including 40 children, it was expected that the Modi government would condemn the Israeli aggression and demand a halt to the attack. Instead of this, the government has adopted a dubious stand which condones the unjustified Israeli aggression.

Railway Budget: More Burdens on People

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on July 8:

THE first railway budget of this BJP-led NDA government is a cosmetic exercise, high on rhetoric and low in substance. The emphasis had been in high-sounding bullet trains and commercial freight corridors with no budgetary calculations to back up. The entire emphasis is to attract FDI and to undertake all further expansion and modernisation through the ignominious PPP route.

New BJP President

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on July 10.

THE selection of Amit Shah as the BJP president indicates the direction of politics the party intends to pursue.

The new BJP president has been charge-sheeted and is undergoing trial on the serious charge of murder connected with false encounters when he was the home minister in Gujarat. The Election Commission had prohibited him from participating in the election campaign in Uttar Pradesh during the Lok Sabha polls for making communal speeches.

CPI(M) Opposes Narmada Dam Decision

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) issued the following statement on June 13, 2014.
THE decision of the Modi government to go ahead with raising the height of the Narmada dam to 38.5 metres goes against the spirit of the Supreme Court judgement of 2000 which had made any such step conditional on putting into place relief and rehabilitation measures for those who will be affected.
