Doordarshan’s RSS Telecast Condemned

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on September 3.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) condemns the decision of Doordarshan to telecast live the speech of the RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami. The RSS uses the occasion to propagate its Hindutva ideology.

The national public broadcaster has no business to telecast live the speech of the chief of an organisation like the RSS. Such an action shows how the public broadcaster is being misused by the Modi government.

Reduce Diesel Prices

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on October 6, 2014.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) registers its protest over the refusal of the government and the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to reduce the price of diesel, despite the fall in crude oil prices in the international market.

Price of Brent crude, the global oil price benchmark has fallen below $92 a barrel. It is reported that the OMCs are earning Rs 1.90 on every litre of diesel as `over recovery’.

NIA Should Investigate Blast

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on October 6, 2014.

THE explosion in Khagragarh, near Burdwan town in West Bengal, which killed two persons involved in bomb making, is a very serious issue. There are sufficient grounds to believe that extremist elements are involved. The concerned house is owned by a Trinamool Congress worker and it is alleged that a TMC office used to function from the garage in the house.

Punjab CPI ( M ) to Start Research Institute In Memory of Comrade Surjeet

THE Punjab state committee of the CPI(M) has decided to establish a research institute in memory of Comrade Harkishan Singh Surjeet at Chandigarh. The institute will be named as Comrade Harkishan Singh Surjeet Institute Of Social Sciences Research. This institute will take up research in emerging socio-economic and political problems and phenomenon in Punjab.

On Special Court Judgment

THE Special Court at Bangalore has convicted Jayalalitha, the chief minister of Tamilnadu and the general secretary of AIADMK in the case against her for acquiring disproportionate wealth. Based on the judgment, Jayalalitha should immediately step down from the post of chief minister of Tamilnadu.
This judgment is a warning signal for those who indulge in corrupt activities and are dishonest in public life. CPI(M), Tamilnadu state secretariat is of the view that this judgment will strengthen the struggle against corruption.

Stop Disinvestment of CPSEs: Yechury to Govt

CPI(M) Rajya Sabha MP Sitaram Yechury has strongly opposed the government’s policy of disinvestment of Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) and rejected the arguments in favour of the move. In response to a letter of union minister of state for finance Nirmala Sitharaman, Yechury has said “I am not in agreement with the explanation given by you in support to your policy of disinvestment of shares in CPSEs, nor with your arguments defending the prudence behind disinvestment”.

Do Not Succumb to US Pressures For Unilateral Military Intervention

THE Obama administration has been putting great pressure on India of late to join a US-led coalition against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. It may take advantage of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s presence in New York at the moment to make India fall in line with its plans.

Re-admit all the Dismissed Students

ELEVEN dalit students from a government school in Bikaner in Rajasthan were dismissed after two of them were found drinking water from an earthen pot meant for an upper caste teacher. The teacher Mangal Singh took this extreme punitive step as he felt that the children “defiled” the water by touching the pot. The parents were also compelled to sign or put their thump impressions on eleven blank sheets of paper.

Successful Mars Orbiter Mission

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on September 24.

THE putting of the Mangalyaan satellite into the Mars orbit is a significant achievement. It has demonstrated India’s technological potential in space. The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) congratulates the scientists and staff of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for this achievement.

In order to take this forward it is necessary to focus on launching the GSLV for future space exploration.
