Pursue Appeal in Babri Masjid Case

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on March 31, 201.

THE appeal against the Allahabad High Court verdict acquitting top BJP and VHP leaders of criminal conspiracy in the demolition of the Babri Masjid is pending before the Supreme Court.  The CBI had made the appeal nine months after the High Court verdict of May 2010.  The CBI has been lax in pursuing the matter in the Supreme Court.

Chinese Delegation visits CPI(M) Office

A TWO member delegation from the Communist Party of China headed by Lin Tao, first secretary of the International Department of the Central Committee, CPC visited the office of the Central Committee of CPI(M) on March 23, 2015.

The delegation was welcomed by Sitaram Yechury, Polit Bureau member of the CPI(M) and head of the International Department and Hari Singh Kang, central secretariat member.

The delegation exchanged views on the current political developments in both the countries.

Vietnam Delegation visits CPI(M) Office

A NINE-member delegation from the Communist Party of Vietnam headed by Nguyen Thien Nhan, Polit Bureau member and Chair of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Fatherland front visited the Central Committee office of teh Communist Party of India (Marxist) on March 21, 2015. Ton Sinh Thanh, ambassador, Socialist Republic of Vietnam in India also accompanied the delegation.
The delegation was welcomed by Sitaram Yechury, Polit Bureau member of the CPI(M) and head of the International Department and Hari Singh Kang, central secretariat member.

Welcome Judgment on Sec. 66A

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on March 24, 2015.

THE judgment of the Supreme Court striking down Section 66A of the IT Act has come out in defence of civil liberties and fundamental rights of citizens.

The draconian provision of 66A was used to arrest people who express dissenting views against the government and the State and to suppress criticism of those in power.

The Polit Bureau welcomes this landmark judgment.

 

Protest Police Attack in Kerala

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on March 13.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the Chandy government’s use of police to brutally attack LDF MLAs inside the assembly and against the public outside the assembly premises. LDF MLAs and the people were protesting demanding that Finance Minister KM Mani should not place the budget as there is a vigilance probe against him which was instituted by the UDF government on allegations of corruption.

Condemn Raid on Shimla Party Office

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on March 19, 2015.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the police raid on the CPI(M) state committee office in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. The police broke open the door and damaged furniture in the office and arrested more than a dozen people including the SFI all India president, Sivadasan. Those arrested including the SFI president were beaten in police custody.

Against Beef Ban

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on March 14.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) protests against the Maharashtra law which, apart from the ban on the slaughter of cows, prohibits the slaughter of bulls as well as bullocks. This law has now come into force after presidential approval.

LAND ACQUISITION BILL: 14 Political Parties Submit Memo to President

MEMBERS of parliament belonging to 14 political parties marched to the Rashtrapati Bhawan from the parliament and submitted the following memorandum declaring their opposition to the Modi government’s proposed amendments to the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition And Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.
