DYFI Expresses Solidarity with Nepal

A DELEGATION of the central executive committee of the Democratic Youth Federation of India visited Nepal on July 18 under the leadership of Avoy Mukherjee, general secretary and handed a cheque equaling to ten lakh of Nepali rupees to Nepal Youth Federation, earthquake relief fund collected from across India by its activists.

The delegation visited many sites of destruction and shelter camps.

Dinanagar Attack Condemned

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on July 28.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the terrorist attack in Dinanagar, Punjab in which seven people were killed including a senior police official. This attack by a three-member squad, reportedly, coming from across the border in Pakistan is a matter of serious concern.

Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Condoled

Sitaram Yechury, general secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), has issued the following statement on July 28.

THE CPI(M) expresses its deep sorrow at the passing away of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, former president of India.

Dr Kalam played a pivotal role in the development of India’s nuclear technology capabilities.

Accept Yakub Memon's Mercy Petition

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on July 22.

THE Mumbai blasts of 1993 was a heinous terrorist attack killing 257 innocent people and causing injuries to scores of others. It is imperative that the criminals responsible should be brought to book and punished. There is ample evidence that the main culprits have escaped the law with the help of agencies across the border. Every effort has to be made from all fora available to bring them back to India to stand trial and consequent punishment under law.

On One Rank One Pension

IN a letter written by CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury on July 10, to the agitating ex-servicemen who are on a dharna and indefinite relay hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi since June 14, solidarity was expressed to their concerns over the issue of 'One Rank, One Pension'. The letter noted that the armed forces of this country have played a crucial role in the national life and made great sacrifices for the unity and territorial integrity since the inception of our republic.

Investigate Tragedy at Rajahmundry

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on July 14, 2015

THE Polit Bureau expresses its sorrow at the death of 32 people, mainly women and children, and at the injuries suffered by many others, in the stampede at the Godavari “Pushkaralu” in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh. It is reported that the death toll is rising. It conveys its condolences to the bereaved families.

Disclose Text of Defence Framework Agreement

IN a letter addressed to defence minister Manohar Parrikar on July 3, 2015, CPI(M) general secretary, Sitaram Yechury has asked that the contents of the Defence Framework Agreement with the United States be made public. He said the defence minister had signed the ten-year Defence Framework Agreement with the United States government on June 3, 2015. The reports about this agreement have also appeared in the media. However, the text of the agreement has so far not been made public.
