MP: AIDWA State Conference

THE 10TH state conference of AIDWA resolved to build a stronger movement of the women in the state of Madhya Pradesh. This conference was held on July 16-18 in Kanha Resort in Morena city of MP. The city was named after late Comrade Leela Srivastava, who was treasurer of the organisation. The stage was named after Comrade Shanti Patel, who was the founder of AIDWA in Gwalior.

HATE, THREAT & VIOLENCE: Kashmir – a New Territory for Right-wingers to Issue Obnoxious Threats

AS the Narendra Modi government scrapped the constitutional provisions that accorded special status to Jammu and Kashmir and divided the state into two union territories over the past week, BJP leaders and right-wingers started issuing obnoxious threats – both online and offline. Exposing the scheme of the RSS, which has always been interested in the territory of Kashmir and not its people, right-wing leaders and activists made threatening statements about being able to “buy land” in Kashmir and marrying “gori (fair)” Kashmiri women.

Tamil Nadu: Amendments in Article 370 be kept in Abeyance

AN ALL-PARTY meeting was held at Chennai on Saturday, August 10, in the background of abrogation of provisions of Article 370. The meeting was held under the leadership of DMK President, M K Stalin, in which all the leaders of Secular Progressive Front representing DMK, Congress, CPI(M), CPI, VCK, MDMK, IJK, Kongu Makkal Katchi, MMK, IUML, DK, and MJK participated.

Shed Apathy to Flood Hit States: AIKS

THE All India Kisan Sabha, in a statement issued on August 11, notes with concern the utter irresponsible and insensitive approach of the BJP led central government to the unprecedented floods, loss of lives and property in different parts of the country. In the last few months, large parts of India have been reeling under severe floods that have led to loss of hundreds of lives. Initially in July 2019, heavy rains and floods affected Assam, Bihar and nearby states in which there has been loss of lives and livestock as well as wild animals in the Kaziranga National Park.

MAHARASHTRA: Thousands of Peasants take to the Streets

The All India Kisan Sabha AIKS) and the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC) had given a nationwide call for demonstrations on August 3, 2019 to press for the adoption of the two Bills for peasant loan waiver and remunerative prices. Both these bills had been placed by AIKS national joint secretary and CPI(M) MP, K K Ragesh in the Rajya Sabha and by Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana MP, Raju Shetti in the Lok Sabha on August 3, 2018, after being introduced in the AIKSCC-organised Kisan Parliament in Delhi in November 2017.

UACs Regularisation

JUST recently, the Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi has welcomed the decision of the ministry of housing and urban affairs (MoHUA) to regularise 1,797 unauthorised colonies (UAC) in Delhi. There is a wave of cheer in the city amongst the residents in these UACs, but there is also deep scepticism. The residents are aware of the history of such decisions taken in the past, some of which were partly implemented, some decisions taken only during elections and never implemented.
