THE All India Federation of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers (AIFAWH), in a statement issued on January 9, has vehemently condemned the imposition of the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) on striking anganwadi workers and helpers by the Andhra Pradesh state government. AIFAWH demands the immediate withdrawal of ESMA and urges the restoration of talks with striking unions for a resolution through dialogue.

However, the JD(U) national executive meeting held in the national capital, Delhi, on December 28-29, attracted significant attention from the Godi electronic media and print media outlets.

THE CPI(M) Manipur state secretariat met on January 2 to address the current state of affairs following the May 3 incident. The gathering observed two minutes of silence in remembrance of the four people who lost their lives in the Lilong Chingjao incident on New Year, perpetrated by unidentified gunmen. Condemning the killings and arson targeting minority communities, the meeting also denounced the actions of unidentified armed individuals masquerading as state armed forces.
