The True Significance of the Historic Farmers Struggle

THE kisan struggle that began on November 26, 2020, has been the largest, the longest and the most powerful nationwide farmers’ struggle in the history of independent India. This struggle has several distinctive features.

First, it is led by over 500 farmers’ organisations in the country, who have united under the platform of Samyukta Kisan Morcha(SKM). All sections of the peasantry have joined together.

August 9 Jail Bharo Programme of AIKS

‘KISAN Sabha in every village, all kisans in Kisan Sabha’ was the clarion call given at the 34th conference of the All India Kisan Sabha. Farmer-activists are engaged accordingly and are meeting the peasants in villages, taking the Kisan Sabha’s message to villages and for the expansion of the organisation. To intensify the process, in the office-bearers’ meeting on July 25, it was decided that our primary units should plan to visit maximum farmer households in their area to build contact with the rural masses.

Relevance of Mass Struggles in Building Left & Democratic Front

THE exceptional experience and triumph of the Long March of Maharashtra farmers under the leadership of the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) has brought enormous confidence among the toiling people. It has awakened the imagination of all progressive forces in their longstanding struggle to overthrow the exploitative rule of corporate-land lord forces in India. This struggle has seized its own space in the history of modern India, similar to the Dandi Salt March during the pre-Independence period.

Historic Struggle of Farmers in Rajasthan

THE peasantry in Rajasthan under the Kisan Sabha banner have won a significant victory after their resolute struggle lasting 13 days. Since September 1, lakhs of farmers gheraoed the different district headquarters on the call of Rajasthan Kisan Sabha for a Mahapadav (sit-in). For three days there was also rasta roko (road blockade) across the state bringing about 20 districts to a standstill. Only ambulances and essential services functioned. The peasant movement received unprecedented support from all sections of the society making it a truly people's movement.

TAMIL NADU: Victory to the People's Power

ON November 29, thousands of people marched forward to take the land that legally belonged to them. That land of 44 acres belonged to tribals and dalits. This land was illegally occupied by Isha Foundation that is led by Swami Jaggi Vasudev. He is considered very close to the ruling elite. At least one central minister visits that Foundation in every fortnight. The public sector enterprises are doling out public money to this Foundation. The Foundation and the land that was encroached by them are in the Vellimgiri Hills that lies in the outskirts of Coimbatore.
