BJP Sticks to Communal Agenda: Karat

ON April 7, 2014, CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat said the BJP’s election manifesto, which was published as late as on the day the first phase of polling began, proved that the party still stuck to its communal agenda, with the temple issue, repeal of article 370 and introduction of a unified civil code being the parts of this agenda. Karat said so while addressing a Meet the Press programme in Thiruvananthapuram Press Club.

LDF Clear Winner

AS the curtains were brought down on the gruelling campaign for the single-phase election battle in Kerala today, the writing on the wall is crystal-clear. It is obvious that the when voters come to cast their votes on April 10, it is the Left Democratic Front headed by the CPI(M) which would be their choice.
 Even in traditional strongholds of the Congress-led United Democratic Front like Malappuram, Ponnani, Wayanad and Kottayam the LDF campaign has struck a strong chord among the voters.

Election Campaign Evokes Good Response

ENTHUSIASM in the campaign process in Kerala has mounted up as the CPI(M)’s national leaders have reached the state. While the temperature outside has already reached close to 40 degree Celsius, it has failed to dampen the enthusiasm of the CPI(M) cadre.
The BJP and the AAP too are trying their luck in the Lok Sabha elections in the state, along with the main contestants, viz the LDF and the UDF.

Chacko Fires Salvo against Congress Leadership

CONGRESS spokesman and chairman of the joint parliamentary committee (JPC) that is probing the 2G spectrum scam, P C Chacko, has admitted that the Congress is facing an adverse situation in the Lok Sabha election. Addressing a Meet the Press programme in the Eranakulam Press Club recently, Chacko said that the Congress had no scope of victory would have to sit in the opposition benches this time.

WHILE Ashok Mochi handed over a water bottle to Kutbuddin Ansari, the latter smilingly accepted it and gave a red rose to Mochi. This was a noble occasion, characterised by a meeting of Kutbuddin Ansari and Ashok Mochi, two faces of the communal pogrom in Gujarat in the year 2002.

KERALA: Raksha March Culminates in Massive Rally

DISPLAYING the invincible strength of the communist movement in Kerala, the 26 days long Kerala Raksha March, led by CPI(M) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan, culminated in a massive rally attended by tens of thousands of people in the historic city of Kozhikode, on the shore of Arabian Sea on February 26, 2014. The march, which raised the slogan “Secular India and Developed Kerala,” reached Kozhikode after meeting lakhs of people en route in almost all the assembly constituencies in the state. The mammoth rally was inaugurated by CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat.

Woman Sweeper Raped, Killed in Congress Office

IN what has come as a shocking incident, unheard of in the history of Kerala, a woman sweeper working in the Congress block committee office at Nilambur in Malappuram district was found dead in a pond in Chulliyod, near Nilambur. Two persons including a staff member of Aryadan Muhammed, the state minister of electricity, were arrested in connection with this barbaric incident. The victim was identified as Nilambur Kovilakathumuri Radha (49) who was cruelly raped and then strangled to death.
