RSS-BJP Mounts Attack on Left in Kerala

AFTER the LDF’s victory in the assembly election in Kerala, the RSS-BJP combine mounted attack on CPI(M) cadres and its offices throughout the state. BJP’s expectation was high, but it won a single seat in the state and increased its vote share. BJP president Amit Shah’s boast of the party’s tally reaching double-digit figure fell in the ground. Naturally, their ire has been directed against the Left Democratic Front, particularly the CPI(M).

LDF Government Sworn In

IN the presence of thousands of LDF supporters and a galaxy of national leaders from various parties, the 19 member LDF government led by CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Pinarayi Vijayan has been sworn in at the public function held at Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on May 25. At 4 pm, Pinarayi Vijayan, who won from Dharmadom constituency in Kannur took oath as the chief minister. Home, vigilance and information portfolios will be looked after by the chief minister. Governor P Sathasivam administered the oath.

KERALA: Elections in the Offing; It seems to be LDF All the Way

EVEN at the fag end of the electioneering, the UDF is far behind the LDF in public and door-to-door campaigning. The BJP has also lost its confidence to get a threshold in Kerala legislature. As the campaign for the May 16 assembly polls enters the final phase, the poll debate is getting increasingly dominated by the LDF.

From what one sees and hears on different media, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is placed at a distant third when it comes to issues being thrown up and being discussed by the main campaigners.

For a Secular, Corruption-Free & Developed Kerala

GET inside any railway station in Kerala and you are greeted over the public address system either by Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Pinarayi Vijayan or VS Achuthanandan. Pre-recorded audio messages of these three leaders urge voters to usher in the Left Democratic Front into government in the ensuring assembly elections in the state. Campaign fever has gripped Kerala and huge hoardings, banners and flags dot the entire state.

LDF Promises Secular, Corruption-free and Developed Kerala

THE CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front released its manifesto on April 19, for the  Kerala assembly elections to be held on May 16. The main thrust of the manifesto is on making a new, secular, corruption-free and developed Kerala, LDF convener Vaikom Vishwan said while releasing the manifesto. The document consists of 35-point action plan and 600 suggestions. Freedom from hunger is one of the highlights. LDF has promised that no person will starve in the state and there will be no hike in prices of food grains.
