Chattisgarh: AIDWA State Conference

THE 5th state conference of the AIDWA Chattisgarh state was inaugurated by Mariam Dhawale on August 11. She said the struggle for equality is a struggle against feudalism and patriarchal values in the society. Targeting the BJP, she said that the BJP is a party that believes in and also practices feudal and patriarchal values. During BJP’s regime, the attacks on the women have increased; the BJP has unashamedly come forward to defend the culprits of Unnao and Kathua rape and murder cases.

RANCHI: Left Parties Condemn Attack on Dalit Family

A six member team comprising Gopikant Baksi, Sufal Mahto, SN Nehru and Om Tiwary of CPI(M), KD Singh and Badrinath of CPI visited the Vinayka (Udaypura Harijantola) village in Tarhasi block of Palamau district on March 1, where a house belonging to the dalit community was set ablaze by feudal elements, killing two women, Imli Devi and Gahni Kunwar and severely injuring a girl. She is currently admitted at RIMS Ranchi, due to burn injuries and her condition is still very critical.

Criminal Negligence of Management Killed Workers In the ECL Rajmahal Coal Mine Accident

A MAJOR accident took place at Maintola patch of the Rajmahal open cast mines of the Eastern Coalfields Limited, during the second shift of work in the night on December 29, 2016. The ground zero was barricaded and sealed by the CISF personnel and no one was permitted to enter the mine. According to the initial information, about 60 to 70 workers were buried under the huge quantity of debris, as overburden fell down on the workers and machines working below.

JHARKHAND: Mass Rallies against Amendments to Chhotanagpur and Santhal Pargana Tenancy acts

ON December 1, the main thoroughfares and bazars at Dumka reverberated with slogans against the amendments to  Chhotanagpur and Santhal Pargana Tenancy acts introduced by the BJP government in the state. A strong rally of 2000 people comprising  tribals and other poor farmers at the call of Adivasi Adhikar Manch and Kisan Sabha, Jharkhand committees. This colourful protest rally started from Gandhi Maidan and culminated into a mass meeting at Commissioners Office. It was addressed by Brinda Karat, Polit Bureau member.

Jharkhand Bandh on May 14

A MEETING of Left Parties of Jharkhand held on May 7,  decided to observe a statewide bandh on May 14, to protest against series of communal incidents throughout the state, anti-workers amendments to the labour laws, amendment to the Chota Nagpur Tenancy Act and Santhal Pargana Tenancy Act, anti-people local residential policies, forcible acquisition of land, attack on trade union and democratic rights and deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
