CPI(M) Protests Irregular Power Supply, Commodity Shortage

ON January 15, CPI(M) activists staged a huge protest demonstration at Kulgam in South Kashmir against the irregular power supply, dismal functioning of the public distribution system (PDS), scarcity of essential commodities and safe drinking water. 

The protesting activists marched from the Bus Stand to the Mini Secretariat, carrying placards and banners, shouting slogans. The procession culminated in a demonstration and rally at the Mini Secretariat, which was addressed by various party leaders.

PDP President’s Remarks on Modi Disappointing

 THE Jammu & Kashmir state committee of the CPI(M) has expressed surprise, disappointment and deep regret over the comments made by Mehbooba Mufti,  PDP president, describing Narendra Modi as a leader who can take “tough decisions” on the Kashmir issue. In her speech at the Idea Exchange Programme at the Indian Express  in New Delhi on January 1, she  in a way asserted that a section of people in Kashmir harbour goodwill for Modi and expect him to do  some positive things viz-a-viz the Kashmir problem.

Modi’s Call on Article 370 Unacceptable: AMM

THE recently formed Jammu & Kashmir Awami Mutahida Mahaz (JKAMM, People’s United Front) has expressed its opinion that the remarks made by Narendra Modi seeking abrogation of article 370 of the Indian constitution are not only unwarranted but totally unacceptable to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The AMM has demanded a concrete decision to restore the eroded provisions of this article of faith to its original status in the constitution.

Adequate Preparations Demanded Before Winter’s Vagaries

EXPRESSING serious concern over the erratic power supply and scarcity of essential commodities including rationed food, hospital supplies and LPG in the Kashmir valley, CPI(M) state secretary and MLA, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, has asked the government to ensure that people in Kashmir are not neglected and sufficient arrangements are made before snowfall starts in the valley.
