Cyclone Fani

CPI(M)  Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on May 3

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its grave concern at the damage to life, livestock and property being caused by cyclone Fani across the entire coastal belt of Odisha and parts of northern Andhra Pradesh. This severe cyclone is now moving towards West Bengal and is likely to cause further damage.

Cyclone Fani: Speedy Relief Needed

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on May 6, 2019

CYCLONE Fani was one of the severest cyclones to have wreaked havoc in Odisha. Thousands of thatched houses have been destroyed and reports of over fifty people having lost their lives are trickling in. There is extensive damage to power supply, communications and infrastructure.

ECI Decision on Tripura West Poll Disappointing

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on May 8, 2019

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its deep sense of disappointment over the Election Commission of India’s order to hold the elections void in 168 booths for the Tripura West parliamentary constituency and hold re-poll in these booths. There had been widespread rigging and prevention of voters exercising their franchise by the ruling BJP during polls held on April 11.

Hold Fresh Poll in Tripura West

A DELEGATION of CPI(M) led by its general secretary- Sitaram Yechury and consisting of Polit Bureau member- Nilotpal Basu, Left Front candidates for Tripura West and Tripura  East parliamentary constituencies-Sankar Prasad Datta and Jitendra Chowdhury respectively,  met the Election Commission of India(ECI) on April 30, to discuss about the poll related issues in Tripura.  The delegation handed over a letter to the chief election commissioner demanding a fresh poll for the Tripura West parliamentary constituency.

AIKS, CITU Call for Boycott of Lays, PepsiCo Products

THE All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) has asked the central government to intervene immediately to protect the potato farmers in Gujarat. The Kisan Sabha has called upon the people to boycott consumption of Lays chips manufactured by PepsiCo Company. The AIKS has stated that it will step up its efforts and initiative to ensure that the cases registered by the PepsiCo company against the kisans are withdrawn immediately.

Reject Sanctions on Iran Oil

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on April 23

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) condemns the decision of the United States government to impose sanctions on any country which purchases oil from Iran. The Trump administration has decided not to extend the waiver given to India and some other countries in this regard.

Condemn Horrific Blasts in Sri Lanka

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on April 22, 2019

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its strong condemnation and outrage at the serial blasts in Sri Lanka which have killed 290 people and injured 500 others.  The death toll is expected to rise. The terrorist attack targeted congregations at churches in Easter Sunday and hotels using lethal explosives and suicide bombers.

Shocking Endorsement of a Terror Accused

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on April 20.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the unseemly act of the BJP and the prime minister over the nomination of Pragya Singh Thakur as the candidate for Bhopal Lok Sabha constituency.  It is well-known that she was an accused and named in several chargesheets in terror related cases. She is still facing trial under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act in the Malegaon blast case.
