Homage to A B Bardhan

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on January 3, 2016.

THE Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) expresses its deep grief at the passing away of Comrade A B Bardhan, veteran leader of the Communist and working class movement of India.

Bardhan became a Communist as a young student while participating in the anti-imperialist student movement. As a trade union activist and as a leader of the All India Trade Union Congress, he made a significant contribution to organising the working class.

AIKS, AIAWU & CITU to Jointly Observe Jan 19 as an All India Day

IN view of the urgent need to intensify resistance to the onslaught of the neo-liberal policies and preserve unity of the toiling people, a meeting of the central leadership of All India Agricultural Workers’ Union (AIAWU), All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) and the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) was held to discuss possibilities of developing joint actions of these three sections.

Politically Motivated Act

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on December 15.

THE CBI raid on the office of the chief minister of Delhi is highly condemnable and smacks of a politically motivated act. It is unprecedented that in the name of investigating the accusations against a bureaucrat, the office of the chief minister should be sealed and files searched, as alleged by the chief minister.

Tripura: Left Front Sweeps Urban Bodies Elections

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) has issued the following statement on December 12, 2015.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) hails the sweeping victory of the CPI(M) and the Left Front in the Tripura urban bodies elections.

The Left Front has won the Agartala Municipal Corporation getting 45 out of the 49 seats. It has won all the 13 municipalities and the 6 nagar panchayats. In many of them, the Left Front has won all the seats.

Climate Change: Paris Summit

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on December 17, 2015.

THE world has been waiting anxiously for many years for an international agreement bringing together all countries to combat the global problem of climate change threatening all of humankind.

However, the recent Paris Agreement is deeply flawed as regards both bringing down emissions to safe levels as well as in the proposed international emissions control regime.

Review Court Order Restricting Right to Contest In Local Elections in Haryana

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on December 10.

THE Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) considers the latest ruling of the Supreme Court upholding minimum education qualifications as a prerequisite for candidates contesting panchayat polls in Haryana as being violative of the fundamental feature of universal suffrage guaranteed to all citizens of India by the Indian Constitution. 

CPI(M) Demands Resignation of Kerala CM over Solar Scam

An LDF rally in Trivandrum on December 3 was led by Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, deputy leader of the opposition in Kerala assembly and secretary, CPI(M) Kerala, demanding immediate resignation of the chief minister of the state, Oommen Chandy. V S Achuthanandan, leader of the opposition, Kerala, MA Baby, Polit Bureau Member of the CPI(M) and Vaikom Viswan, convener of the LDF, Kerala also participated in the march.

Plenum to Begin With Ten Lakh Plus Rally at Kolkata

THE CPI(M)'s Plenum on Organisation from December 27-31, will begin with an unprecedented public rally at historic Brigade Parade Ground of Kolkata. More than ten lakh people will be attending this rally. Party's top leaders from Bengal, along with CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury told a press conference on November 15. To journalists questions, CPI(M) state secretary Suryakant Mishra said that whatever repressive TMC government does, it cannot stop this massive mobilisation of people in Bengal. Logo for proposed plenum was also released at this occasion.
